International Process Plants (IPP) had a transformative year in 2024, solidifying its position as the world’s largest seller of used process plants and equipment.
Over the past 12 months, the company has achieved record-breaking growth, expanded its offerings and played a pivotal role in supporting manufacturing industries worldwide. IPP’s used equipment solutions again contributed to the circular economy across the globe in 2024.
IPP’s innovative approach to asset repurposing also delivered unmatched value to its customers and reinforced its reputation as a global leader in sustainability and advancing the circular economy.
This incredible momentum can be attributed to IPP’s commitment to providing cost-effective process plants and equipment solutions for its customers in every corner of the globe. From landmark partnerships with industry giants like BASF to the acquisition of a 190-acre Novartis facility in the UK, IPP has strengthened its role as the industry’s leader delivering the industrial plants customers covet.
“This has been a monumental year for IPP,” said Ron Gale, President of International Process Plants. “Our team’s dedication and expertise have propelled us to new heights, allowing us to deliver extraordinary value to our customers while expanding into new areas of opportunity. We’re not just growing; we’re redefining what’s possible in the process manufacturing industries.”
As 2024 ends, IPP now has more than 110 complete process plants, 20 complete plant sites and over 15,000 equipment systems and major pieces of high-quality, ready-to-ship used process equipment. The company also is currently operating in 15 countries and has built its roster of client relationships to more than 160,000.
Here are some of our highlights from 2024:
Partnership with BASF for relocation of process plants
On May 6, IPP and BASF announced a partnership for IPP to market ammonia, methanol and melamine plants from BASF’s Verbund site in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
The Ludwigshafen site, a cornerstone of BASF’s global operations, is the largest integrated chemical facility in the world, making this partnership a testament to IPP’s ability to handle complex projects on a global scale.
The agreement encompasses the integrated production assets for ammonia (380,000 metric tons/year), methanol (165,000 metric tons/year) and melamine (51,000 metric tons/year). These state-of-the-art facilities are exclusively available by IPP for relocation and sale to qualified buyers seeking to minimize capex and expedite the timing of project execution.
“Our partnership with BASF showcases how we’re able to connect idled plants with organizations that can put them back to work,” said Ross Gale, Vice President of IPP. “It’s a win-win for sustainability and global production capacity.”

Another relocation success story

When Basic Chemical Industries (BCI) in Saudi Arabia idled two plants, IPP’s team responsibly dismantled and relocated the facilities.
When Basic Chemical Industries (BCI) in Saudi Arabia idled its 90TPD and 30TPD Chlor alkali plants, the company faced a challenge: how to responsibly have these plants dismantled, relocated and reused as BCI commissioned its new Chlor alkali plant.
That’s where IPP stepped in. The plants were relocated to a new project site in Türkiye, saving the IPP customer 70% of the cost of new equipment and engineering and cutting the project time in half.
“BCI would not hesitate to recommend IPP to any other company looking to sell any of their idled plants for responsible dismantling, relocation, and reuse of process plants. IPP’s team worked diligently in executing the project and we were pleased with their performance,” said Ala’ Al-Shaikh, CEO at BCI, highlighting IPP’s expertise in purchasing, dismantling and relocating used plants.
