IPP stocks 64 used mills across 6 subtypes: shot & sand mills (33 units), colloid mills (14 units), ball mills (8 units), roll mills (6 units), pellet mills (2 units), and Kady mills (1 unit). Manufacturers include Netzsch, Merkel, Asada Machine Works, Alpine (Hosokawa), Dyno WAB, FrymaKoruma, Peters & Smith, Hardinge, Blaw Knox, Gundlach, and others. Browse the IMS inventory for current availability, or contact IPP to discuss your specific milling requirements.

Shot & sand mills (also called bead mills) are typically horizontal or vertical wet grinding mills that use small grinding media (sand, glass beads, ceramic shot) to disperse pigments, inks, and slurries. Ball mills are larger rotating drums that use steel or ceramic balls to grind dry or wet materials by impact and attrition, typically for minerals, ceramics, and bulk solids. In IPP's inventory, shot & sand mills span 70–914 mm chamber diameters with moderate motor power, while ball mills include large rotating drums up to 2,150 mm (84.1 in) diameter with 111.9 kW (150 HP) drives.

IPP stocks mills in stainless steel 304, 316, and austenitic grades, carbon steel, chrome-plated, and rubber-lined construction. Stainless steel 304/316 is preferred for food, pharmaceutical, and hygienic applications. Hardened carbon steel serves heavy-duty mineral and metal grinding. Rubber-lined and chrome-barreled designs serve corrosive and abrasive duties.

Buying used mills from IPP can save up to 50% of capital and 90% of lead time versus buying new. The exact savings depend on mill subtype, manufacturer, material of construction, capacity, drive power, and condition. Contact IPP for pricing on specific units from our current mill inventory.

IPP stocks mills in four condition grades: used, unused, refurbished/rebuilt, and new. Used units are previously installed equipment offered as-is. Unused units were manufactured but never installed in a process. Refurbished/rebuilt units — including Merkel and NFT shot & sand mills — have been reconditioned to OEM specifications. New units are factory-new equipment such as the Gale Process Solutions Multi-Mill.

The largest ball mills in IPP's mill inventory are the Hardinge units at 2,150 mm (84.1 in) diameter by 1,500 mm (59.8 in) length with 111.9 kW (150 HP) drives, and the Blaw Knox units at 1,850 mm (72 in) diameter by 3,050 mm (120 in) length rated to 10.7 bar (155 psi) and 343.3 °C (650 °F) with full vacuum. Contact IPP for current availability and condition details on these heavy-duty units.
