PRINCETON JUNCTION, New Jersey  International Process Plants – a global leader in the purchase and sale of new and used process plants, systems and equipment – has successfully completed the purchase and accelerated dismantling of an API pharmaceutical plant located in the United States.

The active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) facility was previously owned by a prominent pharmaceutical/contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that is headquartered in Europe.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

IPP adds to selection of process plant equipment

This acquisition strengthens IPP’s portfolio of high-quality API manufacturing equipment. It also reflects the company’s commitment to meeting the urgent needs of the global process industries and working with customers to dispose of facilities they are closing in the most expeditious manner with the best economic return.

The project required an expedited dismantling process to meet the seller’s ambitious timeline, after which much of the equipment was relocated to IPP’s primary storage and operations center in Eastover, South Carolina. IPP performed the removal for reuse of key process and utility related assets and infrastructure, allowing the existing API facility to be repurposed as a warehouse operation, providing continued utility for the building and supporting sustainable reuse efforts in the community.

Some of the notable equipment going to Eastover includes 18 reactors, 20 tanks, four filter dryers, centrifuges, vacuum dryers, chillers, heat exchangers, boilers and vacuum pumps.  The equipment materials of construction are Hastelloy, Glass-Lined, Stainless and Karbate.

“Buying idle plants and equipment and then performing the safe and timely removals is the mainstay of IPP’s business,” said Jan Gale, IPP’s Executive Vice President. “The businesses we deal with are in and related to the chemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries. As a result, our teams are keenly aware of the everyday hazards present in these environments.”

This IPP acquisition aligns with its mission to supply customers with a versatile inventory of good used, reglassed and new process equipment, in addition to the 20 complete process plant sites that IPP owns. These 20 sites can be restarted in place or relocated elsewhere in the world where it makes sense to operate them.

IPP, which has been in business 47 years, also has 110 complete processes that can be moved to your site and 15,000 equipment systems and major pieces of equipment. These assets offer significant cost and delivery advantages for companies across the globe, Gale said, while supporting efficiency and scalability in a time-sensitive market with multiple choices from just one company.]
