• The nitric acid plant is rated for 700 mt/day (100% concentration). It was built with Grande Paroisse technology. It was shut down in January, 2009.
• This facility produces 56% concentration nitric acid using low pressure oxidation and high pressure absorption
• The plant was upgraded in 1996 by modernization of the turbo-compressor supervised by Sulzer of Switzerland. An additional gas cooler and six lower reservoir trays were added to the absorption column in 2001.
• The plant includes a Honeywell DCS system and vibration and proximity monitors for the compressors.
• The facility is very accessible by road and rail. There is a huge amount of rail system inside the plant. The nearest major port is 120 km away.
• Expected documentation was observed during the inspection, such as PFDs, P&IDs, procedures, and equipment files.
